8K is in the name; here is exactly what it takes on your side.

The 8K in Glomax8K is real, but it comes with conditions that have nothing to do with us: your screen, your box and your connection. This guide sets out what each picture quality needs, so you know what you will actually see before you order.

What resolution will you get?

Speeds are per screen playing at the same time, measured on the device itself.

Which channels are in 8K?

8K broadcasting is still rare worldwide. Glomax8K carries the 8K feeds and 8K titles that exist, plus a large 4K section of sports channels and films. Most news, entertainment and kids channels are broadcast in Full HD, and that is what you will see on them whatever your TV.

Devices that can show 8K

  • 8K Smart TVs from Samsung (Neo QLED 8K) and LG (QNED 8K, OLED Z), running a player app directly.
  • 8K-capable Android boxes, connected over HDMI 2.1 to an 8K TV.
  • Not 8K: Fire TV sticks, Chromecast and Apple TV top out at 4K. They play Glomax8K channels in 4K, which still looks excellent. See the Firestick guide.

Wi-Fi or cable?

For 4K, strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi is usually fine. For 8K, use a cable. Wi-Fi speed tests show peaks, but streaming needs a steady rate for hours, and an 8K stream has very little margin. A powerline adapter is a good second choice if a cable cannot reach the TV.

Player settings for 4K and 8K

  1. Use the hardware decoder; software decoding cannot keep up with 4K or 8K on most devices.
  2. Turn on frame rate matching (TiviMate, Kodi) for smooth sport.
  3. Set the TV picture mode to Movie or Filmmaker, not Vivid, for films.
  4. If a 4K or 8K channel stutters, use the FHD version of the same channel for that evening.

A quick speed check

Run a speed test on the TV or stick itself, in the evening, not on your phone at noon. That number is what your Glomax8K stream will see.
